  • Senior Bioinformatics Programmer

    The Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks enthusiastic individuals to work with software in a rapidly evolving research environment to support the advance of sequencing technology, genomics research, and analysis.

    As one of three large-scale sequencing centers funded by the National Institutes of Health, HGSC provides a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge genomic scientists. This job includes managing data flow for data publication including submission to national archives, as well as supporting the development and deployment of laboratory information management systems and new software tools to support analysis.

    Candidates should have experience with Unix programming tools and a strong desire to learn. Knowledge of object oriented programming concepts and experience with biology and genetics are desirable.
    Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Biological Sciences.

    Minimum Job Experience Required: Three years of experience in scientific programming with applications to genome research or a Master's degree in Computer Science or Biological Sciences and one year of directly related work experience.
    Required: Experience with Perl, HTML, CGI, relation databases and SQL. Programming in a UNIX/LINUX environment.
    Preferred: Scripting languages such as groovy, or python and Computational Biology or Genome informatics.
