  • Postdoctoral Researcher Bioinformatics at a Prestigious Medical School

    A postdoctoral position is open in Dr. Li Shen’s group at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Our research focuses on the development of tools for next-generation sequencing applications. You will help to build systems that can enhance researchers’ productivity and user experience in analyzing datasets from ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and DNA methyl-Seq. You should be passionate about machine learning, Bayesian statistics and have a technology-oriented mind. You want to build killer applications that can handle very large-scale datasets and advance knowledge through data mining.

    You will have the opportunity to work with a few top-notch scientists in genomics and bioinformatics. You will deal with the massive biological datasets generated from a few internationally or nationally renowned labs.

    Requirements:
    - Ph.D. in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics or related fields.
    - Strong programming skills including C, C++, Java, Javascript.
    - Scripting skills with Perl, Python or PHP (or similar).
    - Working experience with Linux and High performance computing.
    - Experience with AJAX technology a strong plus.
    - Working knowledge with machine learning, bioinformatics and biostatistics a strong plus.
    - User interface design a plus.
    - Knowledge with molecular biology, genomics and DNA sequencing a plus.
    - Very good communication skills.
