    IEEE BIBM 2011 worshop: Cancer Informatics CFP (firm deadline: Sep 20, 2011)

    Dear all,

    Please help distribute the IEEE BIBM 2011 Cancer Informatics workshop CFP to
    your friends, colleagues and students and encourage them to submit their
    research work to the workshop by July September 20, 2011.

    September 20, 2011: Due date for full workshop papers submission October 5,

    Call for Papers

    This workshop aims to provide a forum for discussion on integrated analyses
    of multiple data types, comparative analyses across multiple cancer types,
    computational prediction and modeling related (but not limited) to cancer
    genome analysis, cancer genome evolution, genomic mutations versus cancer
    microenvironments, cancer pathway and network elucidation, biomarker
    identification, cell-cell communication.

    We welcome both computational and biomedical research to submit papers with
    unpublished and original research, with particular emphasis on, but not
    limited to:

    . Integrated analysis of multiple omic data types relevant to mechanism of
    cancer and cancer diagnosis (including subtyping and staging) and prognosis;


    . Inference of novel regulatory, signaling and metabolic pathways related
    to cancer through comparative "-omics" analyses across multiple cancers;

    . Prediction of cancer-associated biological network interactions
    contributing to cancer development and progression;

    . Understanding of miRNA regulation network in cancers;

    . Drug target discovery through integrated "-omics" data analyses;

    . Studying "driver" versus "passenger" mutations in cancer through
    integrated data analyses;

    . Cancer genome evolution;

    . Modeling of biological processes in cancer.

    . Journal special issues: IEEE BIBM has a tradition to publish
    selected papers as special issues in highly respected SCI indexed journals.
    So far we have confirmed the special issues publications with IEEE
    Transactions on NanoBiosceiences, International Journal of Data Mining and
    Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics, Proteomics. (In the past BIBM
    conference, the number of special issues is: BIBM 2010-7 special issues,
    BIBM 2009-4 special issue; BIBM 2008-4 special issues)

    . Student Travel Award: BIBM 2011 will offer 20 student travel awards
    to student authors including post-doc

    We solicit high-quality original research papers (including significant
    work-in-progress) in any aspect of bioinformatics and biomedicine. New
    computational techniques and methods in machine learning; data mining; text
    analysis; pattern recognition; knowledge representation; databases; data
    modeling; combinatorics; stochastic modeling; string and graph algorithms;
    linguistic methods; robotics; constraint satisfaction; data visualization;
    parallel computation; data integration; modeling and simulation and heir
    application in life science domain are especially encouraged Relevant topics

    applied, or pragmatic or new research challenge issues related to the use of
    bioinformatics and biomedicine technologies in industry.

    Please submit a full-length paper (8 page IEEE 2-column format) through the

    word). Electronic submissions (in PDF or Postscript format) are required.
    Selected participants will be asked to submit their revised papers in a
    format to be specified at the time of acceptance.
