Dear SEQanswers-Members,
since the deadline for our workshops in october is very close, I want to
send a last call for registration. We got lots of registrations and I am
very glad to inform you that the minimum numbers of participants for all
planned events were exceeded and all four courses will take place.
As a little extra to our workshop series, we organized short talks from
from Illumina and Pacific Biosciences, the biggest and the most innovative
sequencing machine manufacturer. At the 'RNA-Seq Introduction' course
Illumina will give a short presentation about state-of-the-art sequencing
technologies and at the 'Transcriptome' course PacBio will will highlight
the benefits of ultra-long reads in isoform detection.
So, if you or some of your colleagues/friends are interested, but have not
yet registered, I recommend to act fast. There are some seats left!
It would be great, if you could spread the word and forward this last call to
interested people (companies). On our workshop website you will find
more information and the possibility to register:
Thanks a lot!
David
Our workshop series 2014 will consist of four separate courses:
==================================================
RNA-seq Bioinformatics: A Practical Introduction - Mapping, Visualization,
Basic Analyses
(October 16th - 17th 2014)
==================================================
This course is for beginners. It will cover all the basics required for
NGS analysis like file formats, quality control, read processing and read
alignment, all based on an example RNA-seq dataset.

==================================================
microRNA Analysis Using High-Throughput Sequencing - From microRNA
prediction to extensive downstream analyses
(October 13th - 14th 2014)
==================================================
We are very happy that we could convince Dr. Michael Hackenberg, the
developer of one of the most-used microRNA gene prediction tools for small
RNA-seq data (miRanalyzer) to join us for our microRNA workshop. This course
titled microRNA Analysis Using High-Throughput Sequencing will cover the
essential steps of small RNA-seq analysis from microRNA prediction to
extensive downstream analyses.

==================================================
DNA Methylation Analysis - How to Use Bisulfite-Treated Sequencing to Find
Methylated Regions
(October 20th - 21st 2014)
==================================================
Helene Kretzschmer will show you how she took care of her data in the
MMML-Seq study of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC).

==================================================
Discovering standard and non-standard RNA transcripts - How to detect
canonical splicing, circular RNAs, trans-splicing, and fusion transcripts
(October 23rd - 24th 2014)
==================================================
Gero Doose will train you on advanced methods of transcriptome analysis.
Gero has a strong background in transcriptome analysis, finding different
isoforms, fusion-transcripts or circularized RNAs.
