Fastq_screen Errors: fail to launch & permission denied

Hi I just installed Fastq_screen and I cannot run it. I get the following errors:

Failed to launch bowtie command '/data/storage/software/bowtie-0.12.7 -l 40 -m 1 --chunkmbs 512 -p 8 /data/storage/software/fastq_screen_v0.2.1/data/BacIndexfa TrepoNoDot_1.fastq /dev/null 2>&1 |': Permission denied at /data/storage/software/fastq_screen_v0.2.1/fastq_screen line 399, <IN> line 4004.

any suggestions?

It looks like you're trying to execute the bowtie directory rather than the bowtie program itself. When you supply the path to bowtie in the Fastq_screen config file it needs to be the path to the actual bowtie executable, not just the installation directory.
