  • Tues 10/29 - Integrated Genome Browser on-line training - Introducing IGB 8.0

Please join us for a live, on-line tutorial introducing IGB 8, an upcoming release of Integrated Genome Browser:

Feature Focus: New features in IGB 8.0 two sessions

Integrated Genome Browser (IGB) is a highly interactive, fast and flexible desktop genome browser mainly used to view data from RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and other genome-scale data sets. IGB supports many visual analytics features that allow you to create sophisticated, high-quality visualizations for publication, slides, or videos.

In this tutorial, you'll learn about new analytic features coming soon in IGB version 8, including:

    • Filtering reads and junction features by score, number of alignments, and other attributes
    • Coloring features by score using a new color mapper inspired by Cytoscape
    • Ability to click on a feature and run a BLAST search at NCBI, inspired by Apollo
    • And much more...

To test-run IGB 8, visit the IGB 8 preview page.

To download and start the current release of IGB (IGB 7.0.3), go to bioviz.org and follow the Download links.

Once IGB starts, choose Help / Tutorials for a quick introduction to IGB.

If you have questions or need assistance, let us know. Contact:

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
