    Team Leader Bioinformatics
    Central European Institute of Technology

We are looking for a young leader in the field to accept the challenge of starting a world-class research group

We are recruiting an internationally established young scientist to set up an independent world-class bioinformatics research group in a highly interdisciplinary setting. You will be part of the Central European Institute of Technology in Brno, Czech Republic (www.ceitec.eu). The institute will host 600 scientists and state-of-the-art equiped laboratories (incl. high throughput-omics facilities). The campus receives funding as a European Centre of Excellence, with a variety of international partner institutes. The Ceitec Bioinformatics unit is partnered with the Boku Vienna Science Chair of Bioinformatics, with funding for a regular exchange program. Group resources include funds for a post-doc position and running costs.

You must have a PhD in a technical or scientific field and should show:

    - A track record of high quality scientific publications, providing evidence of excellence in both bioinformatics research and applications,
    - Success in obtaining personal or research funding,
    - Experience supervising other scientists.

An interest in close collaboration with local experimental groups is required.

We offer internationally competitive conditions and benefits in line with your seniority. The position becomes available early 2011 and has an initial tenure of five years.

We look forward to receiving your enquiries and application addressed to Prof. Jaroslav Koča ([email protected]).

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
