Default 5' end of transcriptome

Anyone knows if there's an efficient way to sequence 5' ends of mRNA using Illumina or any NGS platforms? Traditionally we sequence a 5' RACE library using Sanger's method. I wonder if there's an advance made with NGS.

Thanks,

WJ
