  • Bioinformatics Post-doc Research Fellow position at Trinity College Dublin

We currently have a Bioinformatics Post-doc Research Fellow position
at Trinity College Dublin please see details below or visit this link

    Trinity College Dublin
    School of Medicine
    Discipline of Psychiatry
    Neuropsychiatric Genetics Research Group

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established
Science Foundation Ireland- and Wellcome Trust-funded research group
aimed at identifying genes that influence susceptibility to
neuropsychiatric genetics disorders. The primary focus will be the
analysis of next generation sequencing data produced by multiple
applications on an Illumina Genome Analyzer. The appointee will have a
PhD in genome biology, computer science or bioinformatics and ideally
will be familiar with and have expertise in the management and
analysis of large-scale genomics datasets, in particular sequencing
data. Basic skills with the UNIX/Linux operating system are essential
and a strong background in at least one scripting or programming
language (e.g. Perl or Python) will be considered an advantage. The
Neuropsychiatric Genetics Research Group is a multidisciplinary
research group which studies the complex relationships between
    phenotype and genotype in three key neuropsychiatric disorders;
psychoses, autism and ADHD. The successful candidate will join the
bioinformatics and biostatistics team within the group, who both
support the molecular and functional genetics research and undertake
independent research that is focused on critical areas of complex-
trait genomic analysis. This post will provide excellent experience in
this rapidly developing field for individuals looking to advance
    towards an independent research career.

Informal inquiries can be made to Dr. Derek Morris
    ([email protected]).

    Salary: Depending upon experience, €42,714 – €48,528.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
