  • Webinar: Sequence alignment: the central step in reference based NGS data analysis

    Greetings from Persistent LABS !!

Join us for the third webinar of our series on "Sequence alignment: the central step in reference based Next Generation Sequencing data analysis" on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:30 AM IST (6:00 AM GMT) and 8:00 PM IST (2:30 PM GMT).

In our earlier webinars we discussed about various challenges in NGS data analysis and different approaches to address them. One of the main challenges in the data analysis pipeline is optimal sequence alignment. A wide variety of alignment algorithms and tools have been developed leading to difficulty in choosing the right tool and its parameters based upon type of NGS data one has. In this webinar, we will discuss challenges around alignment of NGS reads to the reference genome considering commonly used alignment tools. Furthermore, we will talk in detail about various post alignment quality control checks which can be employed to reduce the chances of getting false positive results.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
