  • Postdoc/Scientist position in computational biology, MPI-BPC Göttingen, Germany

    Applications are invited for a

    Postdoc/Scientist position in computational biology/bioinformatics

in the lab of Patrick Cramer at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry.

The candidate will work closely with experimentalists who collect functional genomics data from human cells. The aim of the projects is to study the mechanisms of pre-mRNA processing such as alternative splicing and the principles of mRNA biogenesis and its regulation. The Department of Molecular Biology provides a great environment for cutting-edge research in molecular systems biology. To learn about recent work form the lab please visit www.mpibpc.mpg.de/cramer.

We look for a team-oriented person with a background in bioinformatics, theoretical physics or computational biology, and prior scientific success documented by at least one significant first author publication. We offer a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment and a longer-term perspective. There are possibilities to join projects of high scientific significance. This position can prepare for an independent career.

Applications consisting of a single pdf-file containing a short letter of motivation, CV, list of publications and other achievements, and email addresses of two referees to the email address [email protected] before December 1st, 2014.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
