I just stumbled on the Celera WGS assembler requirements page:
And read this:
Celera Assembler DOES NOT support:
* Data that is totally lacking in paired ends. (This is sometimes called fragment data or shotgun data.)
I've run it many times on single-ended (fragment) 454 data.. I didn't expect the scaffolder to do anything extra for me, but it seemed to work nonetheless. What's the reasoning behind the lack of fragment support?
