I'm interested in looking at a broad variety of epigenetic marks in a bank of old blood samples. (I believe the oldest are around 5 years old.) These whole blood samples were originally stored with the goal of preserving RNA for later RNA-seq, and so are either in PAXgene tubes or EDTA.
What sort of epigenetic marks might survive this kind of treatment and storage?
