  • Rockefeller University - Bioinformatics Specialist

    The Rockefeller University, a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences seeks a Bioinformatics Specialist to join the Laboratory of Chromatin Biology and Epigenetics.

    The successful candidate will assist a team of postdocs and graduate students with research focusing on, but not limited to, the analysis of variations in chromatin landscapes resulting from mutation of chromatin-associated proteins frequently observed in a number of human cancers. Will be responsible for analyzing large Next Generation (Illumina HiSeq) sequencing data sets, performing customized programming as required, and presenting bioinformatics issues and solutions to audiences with varying levels of experience. Proposed work will be done in close collaboration with Investigators in the Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center who will direct clinical ramifications of our work.

    Master's degree required; educational emphasis in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, molecular biology, or genetics preferred. Must have bioinformatics skills including a strong understanding of basic biology, genomics, high-content data analysis, and genome databases. Must have experience analyzing large Next Gen sequencing data sets (both ChIP-seq and RNA-seq). Must be well versed in graphics/visualization software for genomics and some combination of general programming experience with Java, Python, Perl, R, Bioconductor, C++, or SQL required. Must have understanding of the principals and use of biostatistics as applied to molecular level data. Experience with exome sequencing considered a strong plus.
