  • Genomics Core Laboratory Technician, NYU Center for Genomics and Systems Biology

    We are seeking a full-time laboratory technician to assist with next generation sequencing operations at the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology at New York University. This job requires experience in molecular biology as well as excellent organizational and problem solving skills.

    Responsibilities:
    -Operation of next-generation sequencing technology (Illumina HiSeq 2000, Lifetech SOLiD, and possibly others).

    -Basic molecular biology techniques – DNA & RNA extraction, PCR, Q-PCR

    -Maintain lab stocks and equipment, order common supplies, miscellaneous housekeeping duties

    Qualifications:
    -Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar life sciences discipline (required)

    -Experience and proficiency in next generation sequencing (preferred)

    -Basic molecular biology techniques (required)

    -Excellent organizational, data management & documentation skills (required)

    -Attentive to detail and strive for accurate results (required)

    -Ability to work both independently and cooperatively (required)
