  • Postdoctoral Fellow: Computational Genomics, Genome Institute of Singapore

    Hi,

I have this job offer, feel free to contact me if you're interested to do a postdoc in Singapore!

    Jonathan

The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is looking for an enthusiastic bioinformatics postdoctoral fellow to work in the area of computational genomics and cell identity. The successful candidate will join the team of GIS Fellow Jonathan Goke (http://www.gis.a-star.edu.sg/interne...hp?user_id=160). The candidate will analyse large scale genomic and transcriptomic data sets, with a particular focus on single cell experiments. The project will also involve approaches for single cell genomics/epigenomics. Candidates with a background in mathematics/computer science/statistics that are interested to work with cutting-edge technologies and exciting cell models to advance high throughput biology are highly welcome to apply.

    Requirements
Candidates should be excited about science, have a PhD in a mathematical discipline (or related), a solid understanding of probability and statistics, programming experience (R is a plus), and experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, regulatory genomics, transcriptome analysis, DNA sequence analysis. A strong interest in molecular biology and good communication skills are required as the successful candidate is expected to closely interact with experimental groups. For inquiries or to apply, please email your CV to: Jonathan Goke (gokej at gis.a-star.edu.sg).

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
