The Integrated Center for Genes, Environment, and Health at National Jewish Health, in Denver, CO, is looking for a highly motivated, independent, but team-oriented laboratory technician with 2+ years of demonstrated experience with Next Generation Sequencing instruments. Strong molecular biology skills and expertise in Next Generation Sequencing, including PGM, Ion Proton, 454 FLX, or Illumina platform. Solid knowledge of molecular biology equipment and related protocols, including RNA and DNA preparation, RNA and DNA quantification, hybridization, PCR, multiplex amplification and bead-based solutions. Array experience and previous experience as a technician in a molecular biology laboratory preferred, exposure to bioinformatics is a plus.
A bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field, plus laboratory experience in nucleic acid research required. Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and LIMS-based systems for project management. Ability to multitask is a must, along with an orientation toward teamwork and cooperation. Strong creative thinking, problem solving skills, and excellent communication skills required.
