Description: We are seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate in the field of computational biology, complex disease genetics, and/or statistical genetics. The individual will work directly with Dr. Hyun Jung Park in the Department of Human Genetics. Our research group has recently developed machine learning algorithms and big data driven computational models to better understand molecular dynamics in human cancer, published in high profile journals including Nature Genetics. We will use combinations of statistical modeling and computational techniques, such as statistical learning, network analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques on diverse types of genetics/epigenetics data.*
The primary responsibility for this position will be to extend the algorithms and the models to make comprehensive understanding of molecular dynamics and understand how dysregulations in the dynamics would lead human diseases. The successful candidate will be offered a high level of research independence with opportunities to lead cutting-edge projects investigating human diseases. The individual will also have opportunities to collaborate with leading clinicians/wet-bench biologists in*the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Carnegie-Mellon University.*
Qualifications: Individuals with Ph.D. degree in computational biology, computer science, biostatistics, or biophysics are encouraged to apply. Fluency in programming languages, such as python or R, are required. Experience in cancer*genomics, epigenomics, or other human diseases will be preferred.*
To apply: Interested candidates should send a brief cover letter summarizing scientific accomplishments, a full CV, and contact information for three references to Dr. Hyun Jung Park at [email protected]
