  • Illumina Hi-seq clean reads definition

    Hello Guys

I am new to NGS technology and unfamiliar with the illumina hi-seq instruments.

I wish to obtain a quote from a genetic company and they use illumina hiseq instrument. However, their charge standards are in M clean reads/sample ! I am confused of the definition clean reads ? and what does it represents in base pairs ?

Please kindly help me with this matter !

    Cheers

"Clean reads" is not a standard term for Illumina sequencing. I suspect that "clean reads" has a specific definition created by the sequencing company you are considering. You really should ask them to define the term for you. The best we can do on SeqAnswers is guess at what they might mean by that.

      Hello Kmcarr

Thanks, so what kind of data does illumina hiseq 2000 generates ?

I just wish to use it for Micro RNA sequencing

I don't understand what you mean by "what kind of data does illumina hiseq 2000 generates?" If you mean what is the output file format, Illumina sequence data is most commonly provided as compressed (gzip) FASTQ files.

I just wish to use it for Micro RNA sequencing
        O.K. you can do that.

Again, you should really be discussing these details with your sequencing center.

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
