Thumbs down htseq installation distutils problem

Hi all,

after entering "sudo python setup.py install" I got this:

symlinking folders for python2
Could not import 'setuptools', falling back to 'distutils'.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "setup.py", line 193, in <module>
**kwargs
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/core.py", line 111, in setup
_setup_distribution = dist = klass(attrs)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/dist.py", line 259, in __init__
getattr(self.metadata, "set_" + key)(val)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/dist.py", line 1220, in set_requires
distutils.versionpredicate.VersionPredicate(v)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/distutils/versionpredicate.py", line 113, in __init__
raise ValueError("expected parenthesized list: %r" % paren)
ValueError: expected parenthesized list: '>=0.9.0'

I am not really familiar with Unix (I am a user, not a system programmer), so hopefully the solution to this might be easy.

???

Default addendum

python 2.7 is installed and runs without problems.

Just HTSeq wont do as ordered.

Do you have other installations of python? Do you use anaconda/jupyter or canopy?

I think, "no" to all those questions. But again, I am for sure not an expert in Linux.
