  • SEQanswers mentioned for the second time in a major journal

This review/commentary mentions our humble site at the very end.

Thanks to John McPherson for the mention.

FYI, here is a -probably non exhaustive- draft list i compiled of SEQanswers citations in scientific peer-reviewed literature (i don't have rights for opening a new thread myself here but i believe this could be of interest):

    - Horner et al., Briefiengs in Bioinformatics, 2010
"readers are referred to an excellent web based discussion forum (http://seqanswers.com)"
    - Trapnell and Salzberg, Nature Biotechnology, 2009
"The SeqAnswers message board (http://www.seqanswers.com) is an excellent resource for novice and expert users"
    - Nielsen et al., Nature Methods, 2010
"We encourage readers to consult online resources, such as SEQanswers"
    - McPherson, Nature Methods, 2009
    - Flicek and Birney, Nature Methods, 2009
    - Park, Nature Reviews Genetics, 2009
    - Shendure and Li, Nature Biotechnology, 2008

I think it's the first time i see articles referring to an internet forum, or at least so many of them.
    Please don't hesitate to complete/correct/comment/etc
    cheers,
    s.

Wow, great work steven! I missed all the recent ones.

I'm copying this post to the Literature forum...and I'll continue to update the list there.

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
