    1. Postdoctoral Research Assistant

    Overview: Applications are sought for a Postodoctoral Research Assistant in Bioinformatics with strong numerical skills and a track record in the analysis of high throughput technologies. The successful applicant will be expected to address bioinformatics and statistical needs related to the design and analysis of in-house RNA-seq datasets to understand field cancerisation in breast cancer. The appointee will build a dedicated bioinformatics platform to host the obtained results and ensure its maintenance and update. The research will be based in the Centre of Molecular Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

    Essential requirements for the post include a PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a relevant discipline. Experience in the management and analysis of next-generation sequencing datasets is also essential, and a sound knowledge of statistical methodologies is required. Breast cancer research experience is also desirable.

    The post is a full-time, fixed-term post until March 2016. Starting salary will be in the range £34,283 - £36,182 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, plus 4 College closure days, flexible working hours, childcare vouchers scheme, contributory final salary pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan.

    The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

    Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

    Overview:
    Applications are sought for a Bioinformatician to provide support towards the analysis of high-throughput transcriptomic and genomic datasets. The successful applicant will have a quantitative background and relevant experience in analysing biological datasets. The research will be based in the Centre of Molecular Oncology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London. Essential requirements for this post include a degree in a quantitative discipline and experience with complex biological datasets. A demonstrated ability to cope well under pressure and work independently are also essential. A sound knowledge of statistical methodologies is required. Experience with next-generation sequencing datasets would be an advantage. Opportunities will exist for further training in this area.

    The post is a full time appointment for one year (March 2013 until March 2014). Starting salary will be in the Grade 4 range £30,805 - 36,182 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, plus 4 College closure days, flexible working hours, childcare vouchers scheme, contributory final salary pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
