  • Exclusive Interview - Broad Institute's Brian Haas on RNA-Seq

    Hi all,

I thought you might be interested in reading through a recent interview my colleague carried out with Brian Haas (Manager of Genome Annotation, Outreach, Bioinformatics and Analysis at the Broad Institute).

Visit the RNA-Seq 2013 Library to download your copy - http://rna-seqsummit.com/library

Brian is one of the expert speakers at RNA-Seq 2013 (June, Boston), co-leading a workshop with Cole Trapnell and giving a presentation on the program with the likes of Mark Gerstein (Yale), Thomas Wu (Genentech) and Edward Oakeley (Novartis).

You can have a look at the full speaker line up and program on the website (http://rna-seqsummit.com/) or if you download the brochure (http://rna-seqsummit.com/download-brochure).

We hope to see you there!

    RNA-Seq Europe 2013

    Hi,

If you were interested in that event but were not able to make the conference in Boston, there is now one in Basel, Switzerland! Workshop leaders include Raffaele Calogero, Edward Oakeley and Hubert Rehrauer.

You can have a look at the full speaker line up and program on the website (http://rnaseq-europe.com/) or if you download the brochure (http://rnaseq-europe.com/download-brochure).

We hope to see you there!

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
