Postdoc position at the Center for Integrative Sequencing
A three-year postdoc position within the field of NGS bioinformatics is available at Department of Molecular Biology and Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University with start as soon as possible.
Research area and project description
The position is funded by a newly established EU consortium “EpimiRNA” that focuses on the role of microRNA in development of epileptogenesis. The position is embedded in the newly established Center for Integrative Sequencing (iSEQ), which involves research groups from both Health and Science faculties at Aarhus University. The project is conducted in a highly interdisciplinary environment with close contacts to groups in medical science, Bioinformatics and molecular biology.
Qualifications and specific competences
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics or a related field or Ph.D. in molecular biology with experience working with NGS data analysis. Applicants with the following qualifications will be preferred:
- A record of scientific publication in computational biology, bioinformatics or molecular biology.
- Ability to manipulate large datasets in Unix/Linux environment.
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis principles and knowledge about one of the statistical data analysis tools/packages, such as R, matlab, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in common bioinformatics databases and tools.
- Experience working with next generation sequencing data.
- Communicative skills and team player
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
