  • ncbi blast 2.2.26+ error

    Hi

    I am using NCBI-BLAST-2.2.26+ to perform protein blast for sample. I initially used makedb command to make the database and later performed blastx. but experienced an error:

    BLAST Database error: No alias or index file found for protein database [abd] in search path [/data/ngs/Programs/ncbi-blast-2.2.26+/bin::

    Kindly help.

    To answer this, we at least need to know the exact command you ran for makeblastdb and if you saved your database files in /data/ngs/Programs/ncbi-blast-2.2.26+/bin or somewhere else.

    Edit: And the blastx command, of course.

      ./makeblastdb -in /data/ngs/projects/arabidopsis_unix.fasta -input_type fasta -dbtype prot -title abd_thaliana -parse_seqids -out abd

      ./blastx -db abd -query /data/ngs/projects/sample_1_flanked_fasta.txt -evalue 0.0001 -num_threads 12

        Got my answer. I missed out on giving the path to the output while making db. Cheers buddy
