Huiying Li, Assistant Professor, UCLA, believes that the future of Microbiome research lies beyond the gut in studies of the skin, oral and vaginal microbiome. And her own research into the human skin microbiome has concluded that string level differences in the microbiome are important in terms of disease association and potential therapeutics.
