  • Adapter sequence

    Hi,

Can someone please tell me what is an "Adapter sequence" and what is its purpose?

    Thanks

These are any short piece of DNA of known sequence that one adds to the ends of their unknown DNA of interest, usually for the purpose of eventually placing a sequencing primer there.

      Hi,

I have illumina multiplex paired end data of 75bp. The insert size 300-400bp including primer and adapter sequences. I want to check whether my data contains adapter sequence or not for that i used SSAAHA2 and the result file shows matched sequences at different positions like 66th bp to 40th bp, 75th bp to 60th bp. But mostly from the right side of the read.

I want to know can we adapter sequences on both sides of illumina reads.

What if we have 15 bases of adapter sequence out of 20 bases on the right side like from 50th to 65th bp? and then we have other sequence as well that makes up readlength 75bp. Will that be adapter sequence or not?

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
