Hello,
We've done 16S/18S/ITS/amplicon sequencing for years, with good results - sometimes excellent (library dependent) - for both internal and external clients. We're starting to see more and more requests for guaranteed extremely high read depth per sample - like in the neighbourhood of 50,000 to 100,000 reads per side per PE sample. What kind of Illumina instrument (other than a MiSeq) does this (amplicon) sequencing well and why are people becoming obsessed with ultra-high read depth? TIA |

Hmm e-dna?
environmental DNA? deep metagenomics? I think Ion Torrent does a fairly good job of this ..
