A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available for a highly motivated upcoming or recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. graduate in bioengineering, bioinformatics, biomedical science, biophysics, chemical engineering, computational biology, computer science, physics, systems biology or related quantitative field in the lab of Dr. Gregor Neuert, NIH Director’s New Innovator Awardee 2014, at Vanderbilt University, School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee,
The Neuert lab works on the leading edge in the quantitative understanding of signal transduction and gene regulatory processes of coding and non-coding RNA in single yeast and mammalian cells. Our research methods include a combination of single-molecule/single-cell experiments, next generation sequencing, computational modeling, molecular biology and genetics.
We are seeking highly motivated, driven and curious applicants with a strong background and proven record (first author publications) in rigorous quantitative approaches and their application to analyze Next Generation Sequencing and imaging data sets. Specifically, we require expertise in programing with Python, R or Matlab and solid background in statistics. Expertise in computational biology, machine learning, dynamical systems, and/or control theory is a plus.
We offer an exciting, highly interactive, international and interdisciplinary research environment with strong mentoring and career development support. Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is ranked #9 in NIH funding, #15 in U.S. News Medical School Ranking, #13 in Biomedical Engineering Ranking and is equipped with world-class cutting-edge core facilities.
Nashville is mecca for high quality music, great access to outdoor activities and is centrally located within the US.
Recent selected publications:
Neuert, Munsky et al. Science 2013;
Munsky, Neuert et al. Science 2012;
Bumgarner, Neuert et al. Mol.Cell 2012;
Van Werven, Neuert et al. Cell 2013
Interested applicants should send curriculum vitae, a summary of research experience and accomplishments, and contact information of 2-3 references to [email protected]. Applicants should be competitive for post-doctoral fellowships and should explain briefly why they are interested in pursuing a postdoctoral position in general and why in the Neuert lab.
