  • Hi from Banyuls-sur-Mer, France

    Hello SeqAnswers community,

After many years of profiting (mooching) from my anonymous friends on the internet, I am finally pledging to make a contribution by active participation as best I can.

I have a bioinformatics background in:
*Genomics: assembly, alignment, phylogenetics, calculation of diversity, population genomics.
*Microbial ecology: 454-tag sequencing-based, and Illumina sequencing-based microbial ecology analyses.
    *RNA sequencing: differential expression analysis
*Metagenomics: assembly, taxonomic and functional assignment of sequences.
    * a bit about proteomics and metaproteomics

I have a biological background in:
    *phytoplankton
    *giant viruses
    *Antarctic lake microbial communities
*and familiarity with genome evolution, hydrocarbon degrading bacteria, antibiotic resistance genes and microbial metabolism.

Thanks you SeqAnswers friends. I hope to be of service,

    Sheree Yau

Giant viruses?! Any relation to Jean-Michel Claverie's group?

Thanks for the kind words Melissa! I'm working in a different group (on the smallest eukaryotes with not-so giant viruses) but we do have some collaborations with Jean-Michel Claverie's group.

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
