  • Differentially Methylated Regions

    Dear all,

I am wondering if someone knows if there is any validation dataset (cell types, human or mouse ..etc, normal or patients) which contains validated differentially methylated regions DMR (or CpG positions).
I need this data in order to use it to test some differentially methylated CpGs (regions) if they are correct or not.

There's the annotation data from the Illumina human methylation chip, which should contain probes that have been tested and found to be differentially methylated in the human population.

Thanks very much @gringer for your reply.
Is this annotation data available for public download? if yes, can you please post a link to that resource.
I tried to read about (Illumina human methylation chip) from http://www.illumina.com/products/met...chip_kits.ilmn
While I found information about DMR, but did not find link to such data.

      Thanks in advance,

        Here are two links:

        * Illumina website -- from the page you linked to, go to product support page, then downloads, then product files

        * Bioconductor packages -- Illumina is there under 'I'

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
            by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
