  • Gene expression and lipids, time-series analysis

    Hi!
I have two data sets; genes and lipids (RNAseq and lipidomics).
I have 6 time points (equal for both data sets).

How can I see how these two data sets influence each other? Should I use i.e. "MixOmics" - approaches, or are there some time-series correlation methods I could use?

Or simply, how do I know if the time-serie of gene X correlate with the time-serie of lipid Y?

    Thank you!

What organism are you using ? What pathway ?

Human. Insulin pathway and lipid metabolism are of great interest!

For simplicity, say you measured 5 gener using RT-PCR, and you measured 8 lipid species. All within the same tissue and at the same 6 time points. And you have 26 observations in each time point for each gene and lipid.

How can you decide the correlation between these series?

        Thank you!

You might want to use R time series ARIMAX modeling to see time series relation between two series and then model.

Ok, thank you, Ill try that.

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

              Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
              by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
