Reconstruction method of repeatMasker output

Hi everyone

I'd like to ask you about reconstruction method of repeatMasker output.
These days, I started my new research project about ERV.
Now I'm using repeatMasker and Repbase latest version of 2017

I knew the necessity of annotation reconstruction by below paper.

This Open access paper [[“One code to find them all”: a perl tool to conveniently parse RepeatMasker output files]] recommends the reconstruction of repeatMasker output. So I'd like to make reconstruction file.

!! My two question !!
1. Can the perl tool (latest version 2014) be used for latest repeatMasker output ?

2. Usually What software many researcher use for the purpose of reconstruction ?
