  • Bioo Scientific Launches DNA Methyl-Seq Kit for NGS Methylome Analysis

Bioo Scientific launched the NEXTflex™ Methyl-Seq 1 Kit which facilitates a methylome-level assessment of genomic DNA while allowing for the multiplexing of up to 96 samples. The NEXTflex™ Methyl-Seq 1 Kit is designed to enrich and prepare single, paired-end and multiplexed methylated DNA libraries for sequencing using Illumina® MiSeq, GAIIx and HiSeq platforms. NEXTflex Methyl-Seq utilizes a versatile immune-capture (MeDIP) or methyl-CpG-binding domain (MeCAP) for detection of methylated DNA allowing the user to easily assess the methylation state of the genome, quantify absolute DNA methylation levels and identify differentially methylated regions (DMRs).

The kit includes “Enhanced Adapter Ligation Technology” resulting in library preps with a larger number of unique sequencing reads. This specially designed NEXTflex ligation enzymatic mix allows users to perform ligations with longer adapters and better ligation efficiencies. The NEXTflex™ Methyl-Seq 1 Kit simplifies workflow by using master mixed reagents and magnetic bead based cleanup, reducing pipetting and eliminating time consuming steps in library preparation. This kit also uses a completely gel-free protocol making the workflow compatible with liquid handler automation. In addition, NEXTflex™ DNA Barcodes can be purchaseds separately in sets of 12, 24, 48 or 96 unique barcodes for multiplexing.

According to Dr. Masoud Toloue, Director of Genomic Research at Bioo Scientific, “This kit has been specifically designed to aid in the mapping of the human epigenome. Bioo Scientific is participating in the Human Epigenome Project and supporting its goal of achieving a high resolution genome-wide map. This will be essential to understand the function of epigenetic marks and their roles in repression of transcriptional activity. In its pursuit to continually develop novel NGS library technology, Bioo Scientific is pleased to participate in this global consortium.”

The NEXTflex™ Methyl-Seq 1 Kit is the latest addition to Bioo Scientific’s line of innovative kits for next generation sequencing library preparation.

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
