Hi all,
Our department is considering purchasing a Covaris M220 so we can begin generating libraries in house. A one year service plan is ~$2000 and we're wondering if purchasing the plan is worth it, or if we could get away with servicing the instrument on a need basis.
If you have experience with the Covaris M220 I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. How reliable is this instrument? Does it require annual servicing?
For low throughput sheering or DNA and RNA, is there another reliable, less expensive sonicator that folks out there are using?
Thanks for thought on this.
JG
