Applications are invited for a skilled laboratory technician to join the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Genomics Facility on the Hammersmith Campus of Imperial College London.
The Genomics Facility delivers state-of-the-art laboratory and computational support for translational research that harnesses genome information to advance disease diagnostics, prognosis and treatment. The facility provides access to the latest next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms including the Illumina HiSeq 2500 and Illumina MiSeq and supports a wide range of NGS applications including whole-genome, whole-exome, and targeted resequencing, ChIP-seq, transcription profiling, methylation analysis and pathogen sequencing.
We are looking for an experienced laboratory technician with strong expertise in NGS on Illumina platforms (HiSeq 200/2500 and MiSeq). You will operate, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot the sequencing equipment and assist with all other aspects of the NGS workflow including sample tracking, library preparation and quality control. You will also be involved in the development and optimization of new NGS protocols. You will possess a BSc or MSc, or equivalent, in Genetics, Molecular Biology or a closely related discipline. You will have a background in genetics and/or molecular biology. The ability to multi-task and work effectively across a wide range of applications and projects is essential.
