Cool Bioinformatics Researcher – Next Generation Sequencing

A postdoctoral position is open in Dr. Shen’s group at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Our research mainly focuses on bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic and epigenomic data for brain diseases, such as drug addiction and depression. We mainly work with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data which are generated from Mount Sinai’s sequencing core facility. We have accumulated more than three hundred ChIP-seq and RNA-seq samples, with much more coming in the next few years.

You will use the most advanced statistical methods to analyze these data and make stories out of it. You will also develop novel approaches to optimize our use of these data and build applications. If you are very quantitative in mind, like to deal with large volume of data and love challenges, this is a wonderful opportunity!

Our effort to advance the analysis of NGS data can be demonstrated by the following software development:

diffReps – differential analysis for ChIP-seq:
ngs.plot – biological hypotheses testing with NGS data:

We will continue to develop these software which have proved to be very useful for researchers in the field. We wish you can be part of this exciting journey!

My group also collaborates with multiple investigators in the department, such as Drs. Eric Nestler, Yasmin Hurd, Schahram Akbarian and Scott Russo, who are world-renowned neuroscientists. We are very well funded and are determined to do the best quality research. For more information, please visit:
