  • Clinical Bioinformatics Analysis Manager

The Human Genome Sequencing Center and the Texas Children's Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine are looking for individuals to join their pediatric cancer genomics group to discover and analyze genomic variation in childhood cancers and its clinical applications using bioinformatics and computational techniques and concepts. The ultimate goal of these efforts is to exploit the latest in genome-scale technology to better understand childhood cancer and inherited susceptibility to cancer as well as to identify novel targets to improve therapy and outcomes for children with cancer. Individuals joining this group will have the opportunity to collaborate with genomicists, geneticists, biologists, molecular oncologists and pediatric oncologists at Baylor College of Medicine.

This faculty member would work as part of a team to analyze both tumor and germline next-generation sequencing data obtained from pediatric cancers, including but not limited to development and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of genomic data, with a focus on RNA sequencing data. They would assist with the development of integrated platforms for the integration of diverse genomic data sets and the identification of biologically and clinically-relevant genetic alterations from analysis of cancer genomes.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience with next-gene sequencing is required, and experience with RNA sequencing analysis and integration of genomic data sets is encouraged. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment are required. This position requires good verbal and written communication skills.
