Default Any ideas on publishable small genomics projects for students

Hello I ran out of ideas for publishable (2 month) genomic projects for students.
Any suggestions?

Pick a system and phylogenetic range... Like flagella in alpha proteobacteria... And have them analyze phylogenetic networks, synteny, homology, paralogy...

Roundups of tools that do X are always useful. Another possibility is the effects of various pre-processing steps on assembly quality.
