Biological Network Analysis using High Throughput Data.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in statistics and data analysis to play a leading role in developing and applying methodology for the analysis of high throughput data (e.g. transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic) in order to understand network dynamics. The post holder will work with data from two projects in which a perturbation causes a change in the biological network. The desired practical outcome is improvement of algal biofuel or crop productivity.
The post holder will be part of the Departmental Bioinformatics Group led by Dr Krys Kelly, working with Professors Alison Smith and Alex Webb in Plant Sciences and collaborators in Sheffield, Scotland and India. The Bioinformatics Group currently consists of 6 people developing statistical methodology and analysing many different types of genome-wide data. The post holder will also work closely with experimentalists in the Smith and Webb labs.
Applicants should have a PhD and substantial experience of data analysis and a programming language (e.g. R, Matlab, Python). Experience of high throughput data including 'omics technologies, such as RNAseq and ChIPseq would be beneficial.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for up to 2 years in the first instance.
