• Prototype next generation sequence analysis features
• Perform scientific analysis of human sequence data

Marginal Functions:
• Participate in product definition and ideation

• Knowledge of commonly-used methods used to analyze human genomic data
• Develops and applies alignment, search, comparison, annotation, and visualization tools to analyze human sequence data
• Self-starter who works effectively collaboratively in an agile development environment
• Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to select among existing methodologies and tools, and where necessary develop new approaches, to drive design processes and communicate rationales

• Scientific publications or example materials demonstrating genome analysis experience

• Demonstrated experience analyzing human genomic data (e.g. SNP genotypes, sequence, microarray gene expression, proteomics)
• Deep understanding of molecular and cellular biology concepts, including genetics
• Strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, PERL) on Unix
• Eagerness to advance biomedical discovery
• Working knowledge of statistics
• Experience with genome data analysis bioinformatics tools and scientific data visualization applications applied to sequence analysis workflows (e.g. RNA-seq, DNA re-seq, Cancer deep sequencing, ChIP-seq)
• Exome/amplicon analysis expertise including sequence alignment, comparative genomics, functional and structural variant discovery, and quality assessment
• Proficiency with sequence assembly and search tools (e.g. Bowtie, BLAT)
• Experience developing software applications or workflow automation
• Competency with a statistical package (e.g. R or MATLAB)
• Understanding of the drug discovery process
• Experience working with product development teams and understanding and translating customer needs
• Leadership skills including asking appropriate questions to drive decision making and persuasively conveying solutions to a broad range of stakeholders (product management, engineering, etc.)
• Experience with distributed or cloud computing
• Experience with biomedical ontologies
• Knowledge of human computer interaction or related visualization science experience

• 2+ years experience analyzing human genomic data
• BS/MS in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science
• 5+ years experience analyzing human genomic data
• PhD in Molecular Biology-related field or Physics/Mathematics
