Post-doctoral position in bioinformatics: next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis for the study of host-viral interaction in dengue infection, Institut Pasteur, Paris, FRANCE.
The objective is to develop bioinformatics analysis strategies for NGS data, in the framework of a program to study the outcome of dengue infection in relation to both viral and host factors and their interaction. This innovative project involves deep sequencing for determining viral quasi-species and host whole genome expression in many asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals. Institut Pasteur is a leading institute both in the study of infectious diseases and in genomics. A multidisciplinary grouping of laboratories, including specialists in virus analysis (Viral Populations and Pathogenesis -- M. Vignuzzi), human genetics (Molecular Viral Pathogenesis -- A. Sakuntabhai), bioinformatics (Genomic Integration and Analysis -- I. Moszer), statistics, and NGS technologies (Transcriptome and Epigenome -- J.-Y. Coppée) provides a perfectly suited work environment to the project. The successful applicant will be involved in the development and use of novel methods and tools for handling, analyzing and interpreting NGS data in the context of this program. The candidate should have a background in genomics and computing science (PhD degree), including programming capabilities (Java, Python, Perl), relational database expertise (SQL) and skills in bioinformatics methods. Previous experience with large-scale sequence analysis is highly desirable. Knowledge of statistics, viral diversity, or human genetics would be a plus. Duration: 2 years, available immediately. Salary: depending on qualifications. Application (detailed CV, cover letter, references): Dr. Ivan Moszer - ivan.moszer@pasteur.fr Intégration et Analyse Génomiques - http://genopole.pasteur.fr/PF4 Institut Pasteur, Paris, FRANCE Applications will be accepted until February 25, 2011. |
