Context
The Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC) is a research unit composed of 47 research teams (750 persons) and involving Inserm, CNRS and the University of Strasbourg.
The IGBMC Microarray and Sequencing platform is dedicated to provide resources and expertise in functional genomics to IGBMC and the research community. The present staff includes 13 persons (8 for the experimental part and 5 for bioinformatics/biostatistics). The successful candidate will join the team working on the analysis of sequencing data from the projects treated by the platform. These projects concern different subjects like functional genomics, development, stem cells or human genetics and the main techniques used are ChIPseq, RNAseq, smallRNAseq and resequencing (exomes or targeted regions).
Activities
In collaboration with the research teams leading the projects and the bioinformaticians from the platform, the successful candidate will work on the development of informatics tools dedicated to the management and analysis of the NGS data generated by the platform. More precisely, the successful candidate will:
- Continue the development of a database and a web interface for the management of the data generated by the platform.

- Advanced knowledge of relational databases (design, creation and maintenance) and knowledge of at least one database management system (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
- Basic knowledge of biology and genomics and of the main biological databanks
- English
- Previous experience or knowledge on bioinformatics for NGS would be appreciated.
Contract
18 months fixed term contract, starting date (negotiable): September 1st 2012.
