We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a background in Cellular Biology, Molecular Genetics, and/or Genetics for a post-doctoral position within an independent research group in the Center for Genes, Environment, and Health. The research in our laboratory focuses on translational genetic and genomic studies of complex lung diseases. This position will be focused on determining the molecular function of genetic disease variants in cell culture systems. The successful candidate will use cutting edge molecular tools including zinc-finger nucleases to edit the genome of primary and transformed cells to study the function of genetic disease variants. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing experiments in the laboratory, which will include tissue culture, cloning, flow cytometry, transfections, real-time PCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation, FAIRE, fluorescent microscopy, and various cellular assays. The successful applicant will be expected to learn and develop techniques as required by the research project. The successful applicant will be expected to carry out data analysis from experiments conducted and participate in manuscript preparation and writing. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and scientific accomplishments in immunology, genetic engineering, or genetic epidemiology.
