  • SMARTVIEW java memory

    Hi all,
Sorry to post this on the PacBio forum, but maybe someone has experience the same problem and can help me to solve it. I've also posted on linux-ubuntu forums without success.

I'm running javaws on my laptop (icedtea-web 1.5 (1.5-1ubuntu1)) on SMARTVIEW jnlp files which retrieve PacBio data from a local server (tunneling like ssh -L8080:localhost:8080). So far it works when I have to open small-medium data, but when I retrieve bigger files and I monitor the process I see that the application is stuck at 1.6G of memory, not going further and my window is not completely loaded. I looked high and low how trying to increase that but not a clue (nothing shows at itweb-settings about that).

PS: working on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / linux 3.16.0-45-generic
    with 8G memory and Intel® Core™ i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz × 4

Any idea how to set a bigger memory in the process? Thanks

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
