  • Bioinformatic postdoctoral position at MSKCC, New York

We currently have a postdoctoral position for a highly motivated candidate with a background in bioinformatics interested in investigating inter- and intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity in cancers. Projects include high-depth and single-cell sequencing analysis and high-throughput functional genomics approaches to identify drivers of rare types of breast and endometrial cancer. Applicants should have previous experience and track record in massively parallel sequencing data analysis and a PhD degree in bioinformatics or computer science.

Our team at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (http://www.mskcc.org/research/lab/jorge-reis-filho) comprises molecular biologists, clinical research fellows and bioinformaticians. We have a highly ambitious research program and offer excellent facilities, including dedicated high performance computing facilities. Salary is commensurate with experience and include an excellent benefits package.

Informal inquiries may be made to Britta Weigelt at [email protected] or Jorge Reis-Filho at [email protected].

MSKCC is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of recruiting and employment. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
