  • Postdoctoral Researcher position in Plant Systems Biology and Epigenomics at Purdue U

The Li lab (https://www.purdue.edu/hla/sites/lilab/) at Purdue University seeks applicants for a postdoc position that offers interdisciplinary training in plant functional genomics, epigenetics and systems biology.

This position will lead projects to characterize gene regulatory networks - including epigenetic regulatory edges - underlying environmental responses or developmental processes in model plants and horticultural crops. Plant scientists who are proficient in both molecular biology and bioinformatics are highly welcomed to apply. Plant molecular biologists interested in expanding their skill set in Next-Gen Sequencing and gene regulatory network analysis are also encouraged to apply. In addition to cutting-edge molecular genetics and bioinformatics, the position also provides training in lab management and student mentoring.

Required Qualifications: PhD degree in genetics, genomics, biology, plant sciences or in any related field. The candidate should have at least four-year experience (wet lab and dry lab combined) related to plant molecular biology.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in Next-Gen Sequencing experiment and analysis is highly valued. Previous research experience in epigenetic regulation (e.g. chromatin and histone modification) in environmental responses or developmental processes is a plus.

How to apply: The position is available immediately. Applications can be emailed to [email protected], including a one-page cover letter, CV with skills and previous education/research experience, and the contacts of three references. Please kindly set the email title as "[Postdoc_application] Full name". Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
