  • GALAXY on Bio-Linux

    Hello all bioinformatics,

    please could you help me, I am not experienced "linux guy" :-)
    But I trying to run galaxy directly from my computer? I am using Bio-Linux (ubuntu distribution) and there is GALAXY already install. When I try to open it, it is state that:

    "The Galaxy server doesn't seem to be running on your machine. You may need to start it with the command: sudo start galaxy Or else Galaxy may still be starting up (it takes a couple of minutes to get going on the first run)"

    When I open terminal and write sudo start galaxy it is state that galaxy start/running... But when I trying to open galaxy (just double clic on the icon) it still state problem which I write above.

    Could you help me please how to fix it??

    Thank you very much for your reply!

    Have a nice day,

    Petr.

    If galaxy is indeed running on your instance of biolinux then have you tried to open a browser window and typing in http://localhost:8080 to see if galaxy interface comes up?

        Do you have any proxy settings configured that might be interfering with the program accessing the running server?

        Add the following to /etc/environment and see if that solves it.

        Code:
        no_proxy=localhost,127.0.0.0/8,*.local
        NO_PROXY=localhost,127.0.0.0/8,*.local
        You'll need to have root permissions / sudoers access to edit the file, by the way.

          Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

          The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

          Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
