Job Title: Bioinformatics Spec I

Requirements:
The successful applicant will have a strong computational background and a Master degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics. However, we will also consider candidates with a Bachelor of Science degree in the aforementioned fields that have demonstrated strong programming skills and are highly independent. We are working on several problems that require analysis and manipulation of genome sequencing data. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with Linux/Unix operating systems and can submit jobs in a HPC cluster environment (i.e. familiarity with SGE or equivalent scheduler). Moreover, this person should also be able to create, manage, and query SQL databases. Programming experience is required, with expertise in at least one of C/C++, Perl, Python. Additionally, familiarity with statistical software such as R, SAS, or SPSS is highly desired.
A CV and three (3) letters of recommendation/reference from individuals who can attest to competency and skills in research will be required.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children, and is part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania research community. Our lab is studying the genetic basis of pediatric disorders.
