Default MAQ Simulator SNP/Indel Output

One of the output generated by maq simulate (haploid mode)
looks like this:

chr22   16068102        C       M       +
chr22   16068255        A       R       +
chr22   16069235        G       A       -
In the fourth column you found bases that are not always ATCG,
in the above case: M and R.

What are they?

Is there a way to convert those bases into ACGT?

definitely, google IUPAC nucleotide codes and you'll find out
